September 11, 2025, after setting out 2,977 flags in memory of the victims of the September 11th 2001 terrorist attacks, the republican club at Ohio University packs the flags into boxes to be moved back into storage until next year.
September 20, 2025 people gather in anticipation as skaters line the bowl for the annual “Drop in” contest behind the Athens Community Center. Skate Jam is a staple of the Athens, Ohio, skating scene ever since the first one in October 2021. Within the past 4 years Skate Jam has grown and taken on a life of its own inviting crowds of onlookers to watch skating competitions, listen to live music and get food from local vendors.

On May 10, 2025, Tyler Callahan takes a much needed rest with his grandmother after winning first place in the annual Thunderbunny trail race as family gather to celebrate his win. Ending his very first race at Thunderbunny with a time of 4 hours 41 minutes and 32 seconds Tyler managed to beat his opponents by 15 minutes. The Thunderbunny trail race debuted on May 14th, 2016 and has gathered trail runners from both in and outside of Athens Ohio.
In the convocation center, located in Athens Ohio, a memorial to fallen veterans is put up on display on October 25, 2025. This memorial wall commemorates veterans that have fallen in battle with an American flag made from their dog tags. Seeing the flag from a far will only offer a glimpse at the true meaning behind this piece of art, each name represents someone who fought with their life and died protecting the US and its citizens.
Walking down Court St. on October 20, 2025, Wil recounts his upbringing. William Hollan is originally from Athens, county growing up in the Alexander school district would go on to graduate from Alexander high school. After high school Wil enrolled at Ohio University and began studying accounting and finance later changing his major to Industrial Systems. William Hollan would go on to work for national security in 1968. Being from Athens county played a part in Wil's eventual decision to return in January, 2025.
A periodic table cutting board is left out on the kitchen counter in Dan Hendershott's home. Dan is the chemistry and stem teacher at Alexander Local School located in Albany, Ohio, he is know around the school and is loved by many of his students earning him the nickname “Hendo.”
On Friday, December 5, 2025 Tibetan monks complete their final touches to an illustration made completely out of sand painstakingly placed over the course of a week in Alden library located in Athens, Ohio. The installation depicts, the “four perfect friends,” a monkey, an elephant, a rabbit, and a bird, after completion they plan on mutually destroying and dumping it into the hocking river it as a practice of impermanence.
On December 5th, 2025, Finley Mcnamee joins the crowd of people led by Tibetan monks, as they walk down the steps of Baker Center in Athens, Ohio, toward the Hocking river. The monks intend to pour sand used to make an installation in Alden Library as a practice of impermanence, showing everyone that it's ok to lose things you have.
After mutually destroying the sand installation, created over the course of an entire week on December 5 ,2025, the Tibetan monks walk back from the Hocking river, where they poured the sand used to create the installation. One carries a drum in hand as the other carries the urn used to contain the sands after the installation's destruction.
